The main advantage is phase coherence. With three separate sensors, time alignment between channels can drift, especially in long-term monitoring. A true triaxial unit samples all axes simultaneously from the same sensing element, so lateral and vertical vibrations stay locked in time. It also simplifies mounting and cable management.
It depends on the sensor technology. MEMS-based 3 axis accelerometers can measure both static tilt (DC response) and low-frequency vibration.
